Boots are like grains of sand -
but which one fits my foot best?
Who hasn’t experienced the problem of finding the right boot? Boot shops are bursting with the most varied shapes and forms, colours and models. But the search for the right boot by just looking at the size doesn’t always lead to success. On the one hand, there are many differences in length and width even within one boot size (differences among manufacturers, and in the different models). And on the other, a wide array of boot lasts are used in manufacture.
Just as individual as each and every human being, that’s how individual each and every foot is. Feet of the same size, e.g. size 41, simply won’t fit into a “norm” - and under no circumstances into a standardized boot.
The newly developed Foot Scan System by the Boot-Doc Company measures the overall foot geometry (length, width, heel span) all in a few seconds, then makes a special analysis of how the foot is “burdened,” i.e. body weight distribution and pressure points. With the help of this information, it becomes possible to select a boot that fits perfectly out of the accompanying boot databank.
In addition, a statistical analysis of the ways in which the foot is “burdened” is also undertaken. The foot is then categorized as “pronation,” “normal,” or “supination”. Supported by this information and an additional dynamic foot analysis, it is then possible for trained personnel to provide not only the best possible boot, but also the ideal “foot bed” inlay for each foot type.
The importance of the right selection of new boots and inlays is beyond doubt, especially in the area of sports boots, and not only for those who have incorrect foot posture. Researches have shown that even “healthy” feet can reduce the risk of injury in foot and ankle areas while at the same time increasing performance - all through the use of the best possible boot inlay. What’s more, correct foot posture is naturally reinforced and incorrect positions avoided.
Intersport Bründl placed its bets on this new development quite a while ago. Since then it has been able to measurably improve the quality of its customer counsel on form-fitting boots as well as customer satisfaction. “You can find the perfect fit much faster this way. And the inlays perform miracles for the foot,” reports a salesman. “The ideal distribution of pressure between foot and boot reduces pressure points and supports the foot in its natural movements.”
